Job Description
Support the Chief Engineer for fluid systems design and integration modification activities, including successful integration of vapor cycle systems for Polyalphaolefin (PAO) cooling closed loop modifications into current and proposed customer aircraft. Produce drawings such as block diagrams, fluid component selection, fluid carrying line selection, system interconnect drawings, schematics, and installation drawings utilizing AutoCAD. Prepare documentation to support FAA certification activities and specific customer requirements. Assist modification personnel with integrating engineering data, functional system checkout, troubleshooting, and operational aspects of engineered and existing aircraft systems.

- Education & Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of aerospace experience in fluid systems dynamics and design.
- US Person status required.
- Proficiency in utilizing OEM maintenance manuals, OEM wiring diagrams, OEM illustrated parts catalogs, and other engineering data generated from a non-OEM source.
- Experience with special mission modifications on large/small fixed-wing and rotary aircraft.
- Experience with mechanical system modifications for specified systems.
- Experience with all operational aspects of the vapor cycle system.
- Experience with the electrical interface and controls of fluid and fluid dynamic systems.
- A combination of general cooling fluid systems and electrical technical positions with the ability to meet the required job functions will be considered.
- Professional Attributes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows file operations and Microsoft Office products.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat (Pro).
- Proficiency with 2D AutoCAD and mechanical systems drawing/schematic design.
- Experience with SolidWorks or Catia V5 is a plus.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience with vapor cycle systems.
- Familiarity with FAR Parts 21, 25, 43, and associated guidance material.
- Familiarity with FAR Part 145 repair station operating practices.
- Job Duties & Functions
- Create and revise system specifications, schematics, fluid line diagrams, and fluid line routing installation drawings.
- Review equipment/vendor manufacturer installation manuals and data for integration of system components.
- Research component and equipment specifications and verify system integration design, considering environmental factors.
- Create system description and requirements documents.
- Create FAA certification documentation, including system substantiation reports, ground/flight test plans and reports, parts lists, or other required substantiation documents.
- Participate in project technical meetings and support the preparation of material for design and program reviews.
- Assist modification personnel with integrating engineering data into the subject aircraft.
- Assist modification personnel with functional system checkout, system troubleshooting, and operational aspects of all engineered and existing aircraft systems.
- Physical Requirements & Environment
- Ability to move in and out of subject aircraft without restrictions during investigations, technician assistance, and troubleshooting activities.
- Work in environments requiring visual inspection and operational testing of fluid and mechanical systems.
