Job Description

Perform aircraft quality control inspection activities to ensure airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and adherence to FAA regulations, technical data, and company standards. Lead inspection operations, oversee documentation accuracy, support training activities, and coordinate workforce execution across maintenance, receiving, in-process, and final inspection functions.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • 3+ years of aircraft maintenance experience in a Part 145 Repair Station or 5 years as a licensed A&P in a similar aviation operation
    • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
    • Operate computer systems, maintenance manuals, and documentation systems
    • Interpret, understand, and apply Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), blueprints, engineering documents, etc
    • Ability to work at either the Marana or Tucson location as required
    • Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills to meet deadlines
    • Maintain close attention to detail and accuracy in inspection activities
    • Apply commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and quality standards
    • Train and mentor personnel in inspection and compliance processes
    • Work independently and collaboratively within team environments
    • Identify hazards and apply SMS procedures consistently
    • Preferred Skills
    • Experience in a high-volume MRO environment
    • Apply proficiency with technical data, inspection procedures, and quality control documentation
    • Maintain 2+ years of inspection experience in a high-volume MRO environment
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Ensure all work complies with applicable technical data, FAA regulations, and company policies and procedures
    • Review non-preplanned maintenance documents to determine repair or replacement methods, required parts, tooling, and labor estimates
    • Document removed aircraft components routed to Technical Services with valid job numbers and defined work scope
    • Execute proper tagging of repairable, serviceable, and condemned parts
    • Inspect aircraft, flightline operations, and shop work to ensure continued airworthiness
    • Verify parts and materials meet quality standards and manufacturer specifications
    • Record inspection results on required forms, reports, and inspection tags while escalating irregularities to the Chief Inspector
    • Validate corrective actions and ensure proper references are documented on work cards
    • Confirm Required Inspection Items (RIIs) are properly identified per customer procedures
    • Maintain Work-In-Progress Conformity Records for assigned shifts
    • Conduct receiving inspections of parts and materials entering the maintenance workflow
    • Evaluate assemblies, installations, and component tolerances using precision measuring tools
    • Approve or reject units by signing inspection documentation and recording discrepancies
    • Log all aircraft inspections performed in maintenance systems
    • Provide onboarding and on-the-job training while maintaining training documentation records
    • Enforce company policies, safety regulations, PPE requirements, and equipment usage standards
    • Coordinate workforce assignments, resolve work issues, and communicate operational status updates
    • Perform facility audits for safety and compliance adherence
    • Coordinate with customers to obtain project-related technical information
    • Recommend improvements to productivity, efficiency, and cost control processes
    • Assume Chief Inspector responsibilities in the absence of leadership
    • Support temporary duty assignments away from base as required
    • Enforce SMS compliance, safety reporting, and hazard mitigation initiatives
    • Physical Requirements & Environment
    • Sit or stand for extended durations throughout shifts
    • Perform frequent walking, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 10 pounds
    • Occasionally crawl, crouch, kneel, and balance during inspection tasks
    • Utilize eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity, and normal corrected vision and hearing
    • Work in hangar, office, and flightline environments
    • Operate in high-noise areas, temperature variations, hazardous material zones, unprotected heights, and around moving equipment
    • Use required PPE, including goggles, face shields, ear protection, gloves, aprons, safety harnesses, and respirators
