- Role Summary
- In this role, you will perform initial inspections and surveillance of commercial-type aircraft undergoing maintenance and repair. You will inspect aircraft and components, audit maintenance work packages, perform weight and balance calculations, sign logbook airworthiness releases, and ensure adherence to safe maintenance practices.
- Education & Job Requirements
- You must have
- A High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- An FAA A&P Certification.
- A Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy commercial and/or military maintenance, or 6 months as a skill level 3 mechanic.
- Recorded training on at least three types of commercial aircraft.
- Minimum of 2 years of inspection experience.
- Preferred Skills
- You will have
- GenFAM Training on: MD-11, A320, B737NG, B747-400, B777, and/or B787 aircraft.
- Knowledge of aircraft manuals and related materials.
- Knowledge of ATA codes, of all applicable FARs, and company policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of paperwork procedures, including job cards, time cards, routine/non-routine cards, SRMs, service bulletins, and work sign-off procedures.
- Component replacement skills, including hydraulic, air conditioning, pneumatic, and engine components.

- Job Duties & Functions
- You will be able
- Comply with initial inspections using customer-provided work instructions.
- Inspect and accept or reject all required inspection items and non-routine work accomplished on commercial-type aircraft.
- Inspect aircraft and components utilizing special tooling and equipment.
- Perform weight and balance functions and complete calculations.
- Audit aircraft maintenance work packages.
- Sign the logbook airworthiness releases.
- Inspect and report findings on facility inspections.
- Adhere to safe maintenance practices and maintain a clean work area.
- Maintain work performed on O.J.T. forms for the training department.
- Successfully complete any training courses deemed necessary by supervision.
- Perform any work assigned by the lead or supervisor.
- Physical Requirements
- Able to
- Move easily around various sections of the aircraft.
- Maintain mental focus and work under stress and intense physical effort for long periods.
- Stand for 90% of the workday on hard surfaces.
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
- Report to work regularly.
