Job Description

The Sheet Metal Mechanic inspects, repairs, modifies, and fabricates aircraft structural components, with a focus on sheet metal and composite repairs. This role supports heavy maintenance and modification activities while ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards in a demanding production environment. The technician performs inspections, repairs, and fabrications on corporate and commercial aircraft, including CRJ models, and contributes to overall aircraft airworthiness and operational readiness.

    • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, and weekends

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of structural sheet metal repair and modification experience or sustained similar experience.
    • Experience with corporate jet or commercial aircraft, including CRJ airframes.
    • MRO or heavy maintenance experience.
    • Military aircraft maintenance experience, including Depot, Isochronal, or Phase inspections, if applicable.
    • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or FAA Airframe license.
    • Ability to effectively communicate aircraft maintenance actions in English, both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
    • Preferred Skills
    • Experience performing complex structural repairs on both sheet metal and composite aircraft components.
    • Familiarity with industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory standards in aviation structural maintenance.
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Perform thorough inspections of aircraft structures, identifying and documenting signs of damage or wear.
    • Execute sheet metal repairs and modifications on structural components, including wing, fuselage, and tail sections.
    • Fabricate and modify structural components and aircraft parts.
    • Perform minor structural repairs on composite components, whether attached or detached.
    • Assist with mechanical and electrical removals and installations as required.
    • Interpret and follow aircraft maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical specifications.
    • Assist with complex structural repairs both on and off aircraft.
    • Utilize precision measuring tools and equipment to ensure accurate repairs and regulatory compliance.
    • Inspect confined areas of the airframe as required.
    • Comply with environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
    • Remain current on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to aviation structural maintenance.
