Job Description
The Avionics Technician – Troubleshooter is responsible for performing scheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications on avionics and electrical systems for business jet and turboprop aircraft. This role includes troubleshooting and installation support for communication, navigation, autopilot, pitot-static, transponder, battery, and cabin entertainment systems while ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, approved technical data, and repair station procedures. The technician completes required inspection documentation, verifies parts and calibration status, assists inspection leadership with reporting unairworthy conditions, and maintains adherence to safety standards in all work areas.

- Education & Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in recent, work-related avionics.
- Working knowledge of aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
- Experience with installation or understanding of VHF communication systems, GPS, VOR, ILS, DME, transponder systems, autopilot systems, pitot-static systems, including RVSM re-certifications, aircraft batteries, cabin entertainment systems, FAA regulations, and general flight line troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).

- Prior issuance of an FAA Repairman Certificate with an avionics repair station.

- Job Duties & Functions
- Complete all inspection forms and FAA Form 337 documentation and ensure records are processed through the Inspection Department.
- Verify conformance with approved drawings and approved technical data.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulations and technical data for assigned work.
- Assist the Chief Inspector in completing duties and report unairworthy conditions or procedures not in compliance with the Repair Station Manual or Quality Control System and Procedures Manual.
- Ensure all parts received from stock have proper maintenance release documentation and verify shelf-life materials are within approved dates.
- Confirm calibration status of inspection aids and test equipment prior to use.
- Maintain familiarity with the Repair Station Manual and procedures.
- Follow all safety precautions around aircraft and work areas and notify the appropriate Shop Manager of unsafe conditions or hazards.
- Physical Requirements & Environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- May be required to lift and move up to 50 pounds or more.
