Job Description

Assemble, align, and test laser and laser system components, subassemblies, and systems while following work orders, production drawings, and engineering instructions. You will collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to support the transition from development to full-rate production and improve manufacturing yield and efficiency. The position includes performing optical inspections, testing, diagnostics, and assembly of electro-optical components and systems. You will also mentor junior technicians and assist with troubleshooting and test equipment setup.

    • Education & Job Requirements
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • A minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with optics in a manufacturing environment.
    • A minimum of 4 years of experience working with military-grade lasers in a production environment.
    • A minimum of 4 years of experience conducting testing, integration, and diagnostics on optics and lasers.
    • A minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical and mechanical assembly.
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
    • Ability to work weekends and evenings as required to meet operational objectives.
    • Preferred Skills
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Thorough understanding of all elements of laser resonator cavities.
    • Job Duties & Functions
    • Assemble laser components, subassemblies, and laser systems according to production drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
    • Position and align parts in jigs, fixtures, or other holding devices.
    • Perform optical bonding, cleaning, and inspection of laser units.
    • Conduct optical inspections using interferometric equipment.
    • Record, analyze, and interpret test data and recommend improvements to increase manufacturing yield.
    • Coordinate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to support low-cost producible designs and transition from development to full-rate production.
    • Mentor and train junior-level technicians.
    • Set up and verify optical, electronic, and environmental test equipment.
    • Assemble and test optical, mechanical, and electrical subassemblies.
    • Build wiring harnesses, solder components, and perform PCB assembly of electrical and electro-optical subassemblies.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.
