Aircraft Painter

Job Description

Perform aircraft paint preparation, stripping, surface treatment, and paint application activities in support of production, flight test, and related operations. Prepare aircraft surfaces using approved methods and materials while ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, safety requirements, and inspection procedures. Support aircraft movement, masking operations, surface finishing, and touch-up activities as required.

• Education & Job Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience with aircraft paint preparation and painting preferred
• Interpret engineering drawings to identify required paint preparation and application tasks
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, or maintenance manuals
• Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

• Job Duties & Functions
• Adhere to General Work Requirements
• Read engineering drawings to identify tasks required for the preparation and application of chemicals and paint to aircraft surfaces
• Apply safety absorbent to hangar floors and spray aircraft surfaces with stripper to remove paint
• Assist with moving aircraft to the appropriate bay
• Mask, unmask, and re-mask aircraft surfaces to protect windows and other susceptible areas
• Remove stripper, excess paint, and contaminants using water, solvents, air blowers, and brushes
• Sand, grind, and buff aircraft surfaces in preparation for primer and paint application
• Apply putty to body dents and replace sealer as required
• Apply Alodine to aircraft surfaces using spray equipment
• Perform touch-up work as required
• Document work performed in accordance with the Inspection Procedures Manual (IPM)
• Support production, flight test, and other operational areas as required
• Assist other employees in the performance of duties within qualified work areas
