- Role Summary
- In this role, the SIL Engineering Technician fabricates cables and harnesses, wires and assembles aircraft systems, and performs troubleshooting and functional testing of hardware and software. The position requires interpreting engineering and mechanical drawings, maintaining lab and test bench equipment, and following industry wiring and soldering standards. The technician collaborates with cross-functional teams to support FLRAA Safety Critical Systems while adhering to safety, security, and quality requirements.
- Education & Job Requirements
- Must have a High School Diploma.
- Must hold an Associate Degree in Engineering or possess equivalent experience (preferred).
- Prefer military experience in aircraft/systems maintenance and support.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of technical industry experience.
- Must have the ability to attain a security clearance, if needed.
- Must be able to crimp and assemble connector contacts and cable assemblies to aircraft standards.
- Must be able to solder to J-STD standards.
- Must be able to read and understand aircraft-level wiring diagrams.
- Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings and diagrams for metal fabrication and assemblies.
- Must be familiar with the use of test equipment, troubleshooting, and repair of wiring, and isolation.
- Must have experience wiring serial data interfaces, including ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, RS422, RS232, Ethernet, IEEE-488.
- Must have experience installing fiber optic cabling for reflective memory hardware.
- Must be able to properly and safely use hand tools and shop equipment (powered and unpowered – hand drills, wire crimpers, wire strippers, and soldering tools).
- Must communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in confined areas for extended periods of time.
- Familiarity with ESD and FOD practices.
- Job Duties/Functions
- Must fabricate interconnecting cables and harnesses based on engineering drawings.
- Must perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of test bench and lab infrastructure equipment.
- Must support the development and integration of Safety Critical Systems for the FLRAA program.
- Must assist in wiring, assembling, and testing aircraft systems and subsystems according to specifications.
- Must troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability issues.
- Must perform functional and connectivity testing on system components.
- Must develop and document standard operating procedures for systems administration and wiring practices.
- Must maintain baseline system security and ensure compliance with technical standards.
- Must install, update, and troubleshoot systems, servers, and aircraft wiring assemblies.
- Must administer system and network user accounts and establish access protocols.
- Must monitor and maintain system and server configurations, as well as verify system and equipment integrity.
- Must diagnose faulty system and server hardware.
- Must collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project timelines and quality requirements.
