- Summary of Accountabilities
- Performs all sheet metal repairs and modifications in accordance with the maintenance manuals, drawings, STC’s, etc.
- Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair aircraft sheet metal parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine
- sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metalproducts.
- Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material to develop andtrace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates.
- Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, formingrolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
- Shape metal material over anvil, block, or other form.
- Trim, file, grind, de-burr, buff, and smooth surfaces.Comply with 14 CFR (as applicable), manufacturer’s specifications, company policies, and procedures, as well as other methods accepted by the FAA, whenaccomplishing maintenance.
- Conduct on-the-job training as assigned.
- Maintain the maintenance work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production
- assembly operations on aircraft structural assemblies and sub-assemblies such aswings, stabilizers, and flight controls.
- Work with or without established blueprints to fabricate, drill, dimple, file, grind,trim, countersink and install aircraft structural assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Use of hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws.
- May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, complex structures and systems.
- Work with composites if interested.
- Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Education to meet licenses required (see below)
- 2-5 years in aircraft sheet metal modification
- Must meet the requirements of Airport Authority to be receive a badge and have no ramp restrictions.
- General aviation experience performing annual inspections and maintenance.
- Experience working with composites and fabric flight controls.
- Communication Skills
- Must be able to read and speak English.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with other personnel.
- Physical Requirements
- This position requires you to perform a variety of physical activities such as:
- Accessing elevated areas of aircraft for maintenance and servicing, which may require the use of ladders, high lift trucks, boom lifts and other lifting devices.
- Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, working overhead, extensive walking, working in tight/confined spaces.
- Frequently lifting up to 10 lbs.
- Occasionally lifting up to 25-50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Handling hazardous material in performance of assigned duties.
- Be able to use Person Protective Equipment (e.g. respirators, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.)

- Work Environment
- Frequent exposure to general shop conditions, engine noise.
- Frequent exposure to aircraft exhaust, moving mechanical parts, lubricants, metals, and solvents.
- Frequent exposure to seasonal weather.
- Additional Requirements or Skills
- Reasoning:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Certificates & Licenses:
- A & P License desired
- Must possess and maintain a current and valid driver’s license
